Adult Mental Health Practitioners

Our practitioners bridge the gap between primary and secondary mental health services, supporting adults whose needs cannot be met by Talking Therapies, but who perhaps don’t need ongoing support from secondary care services. They deal with moderate to severe mental health problems or complex emotional issues, and can refer onwards into a range of other services, also offering interventions and medications management. Other topics covered are personality disorders, eating disorders, ADHD, and PTSD.

Our provider for this service is the Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys (TEWV) Primary Care Service, who have over 30 practitioners working in 14 PCNs in the Tees Valley area. Since starting in October 2020, they have supported 40,000 patients as of Jan 2025. Only 4.1% of these have needed onward referral into Secondary Care Mental Health Services.
